Chapter 4 Verses 82
|
|
---|---|
Original text | Do they not consider the Qur’an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy. |
Problem | This verse in the Quran states that if the Quran had been written by humans rather than Allah then it would contain errors. It is perfectly possible for a human to write a book without any errors in it at all, therefore this statement is incorrect. If a book is written by humans then it might contain errors; error free books do not require divine authorship, therefore this verse is in error. |
Solution | There really is no solution to this problem that requires only a simple rewording. The only way to correct this verse is to completely reverse the logic so that discrepancies imply a human author is postulated rather than the erroneous logic lack of discrepancies imply a divine author. |
New text | Have they not considered the Quran? Had they found therein much discrepancy then it would surely not have been from Allah. |
