Chapter 4 Verses 82
Original text Do they not consider the Qur’an (with care)? Had it been from other Than Allah, they would surely have found therein Much discrepancy.
Problem This verse in the Quran states that if the Quran had been written by humans rather than Allah then it would contain errors. It is perfectly possible for a human to write a book without any errors in it at all, therefore this statement is incorrect. If a book is written by humans then it might contain errors; error free books do not require divine authorship, therefore this verse is in error.
Solution There really is no solution to this problem that requires only a simple rewording. The only way to correct this verse is to completely reverse the logic so that discrepancies imply a human author is postulated rather than the erroneous logic lack of discrepancies imply a divine author.
New text Have they not considered the Quran? Had they found therein much discrepancy then it would surely not have been from Allah.
