Saying that the Moon follows the Sun suggests a geocentric universe where the Sun and Moon would both orbit the Earth as if on a wheel.
One of the cosmological misconceptions at the time was that the heavens were held up by pillars. At first glance Quran seems to be addressing this myth, but in adding the words that you can see still allows for the possibility of invisible pillars.This is additionally troublesome as The Book of Enoch describes how the heavens are held up from the Earth by the four winds of the North/East/South/West. The Quran could just as easily be stating that the firmament of the heavens is held up by invisible pillars.
