This verse could be interpreted as saying that a journey continued until the place of the rising sun was reached. This implies a flat Earth where the sun orbits the Earth and sets in a specific place each night.
This verse says that during the fasting period people cannot eat unless it is night time. This verse hints at the possibility that the author did not realise that at certain places on the Earth the Sun does not completely set for 6 months at a time.
Saying that the heavens were raised up reflects the incorrect geocentric creation story of Genesis where the Earth existed and the heavens were raised up from it.
One of the cosmological misconceptions at the time was that the heavens were held up by pillars. At first glance Quran seems to be addressing this myth, but in adding the words that you can see still allows for the possibility of invisible pillars. This is additionally troublesome as The Book of Enoch describes how the heavens are held up from the Earth by the four winds of the North/East/South/West. The Quran could just as easily be stating that the firmament of the heavens is held up by invisible pillars.
The verse could be interpreted as saying that a journey continued until the place of the setting sun was reached. This implies a flat Earth where the sun orbits the Earth and sets in a specific place each night.
